The Smart Skipper™ Roving Watchman system consists of:
One or more Alarm Watch Mates that each have a strobe/buzzer and silence switch. This unit alarms if the countdown timer on any Roving Watch Mate expires.
One or more Roving Watch Mates with a programmable countdown timer for up to 60 minutes.
The Mates communicate wirelessly with each other. The only wiring required is to connect them to DC power. They have an internally charged backup battery that can power the strobe/buzzer continually for 2 hours.
When the system is armed the countdown timers on each Roving Watch Mate start. Whenever the button on the Roving Watch Mate is pressed, the countdown timer restarts. If any Roving Watch Mate's timer expires, the Alarm Watch Mate's strobe and buzzer activate. The buzzer on the Alarm Watch Mate can be silenced, but the strobe will remain ON until all alarming Roving Watch Mates have been reset. The strobe will only turn OFF when there are no more alarming Roving Watch Mates. The system requires a passcode to be disarmed and will only be able to be disarmed if there are no alarming Roving Watch Mates.
Each Roving Watch Mate has an alarm input designed to be connected to a smoke detector. If this alarm input activates, then all other Roving Watch Mates will immediately activate their strobe and buzzer, no matter if the system is armed or disarmed.
The First Alert units all interconnect with each other using their own wireless system. If any one of the devices alarms, the signal will propagate to the SA521 master that is connected to a Roving Watch Mate, which will then cause all other Roving Watch Mates to alarm.
The smart tablet is used to arm and disarm the system as well to identify any alarming Roving Watch Mates. Once armed, the tablet is not required for the system to function.
